Standing Conference of Archaeological Unit Managers

The Standing Conference of Archaeological Unit Managers (or SCAUM) was formed in 1975 and represents archaeological employers in the United Kingdom. SCAUM has set out to represent the issues pertinent to archaeological employers to national government, in addition to the wider business world. The Standing Conference of Archaeological Unit Managers (SCAUM) exists to assist archaeological managers and to promote best practice. It publishes the 'Health and Safety in Field Archaeology' manual and is currently preparing a manual dealing with all aspects of employment in archaeology. SCAUM also publish a series of occasional papers on professional and commercial issues.
