It is an archaeological site situated in Israel on a hill of Galilee.
It was the site of a Greco Roman city between the third century BC and the seventh century AD.It controlled a small port facility on the lake and it has an area of the surrounding countryside.
It was a part of the Decapolis, or Ten Cities, a group of cities in Roman Palestine that were culturally tied more nearly to Greece and Rome than to the Middle East.
Its full name, Antiochia Hipposreflects a Seleucid founding.
